Blast From The Past
I know I had the coolest lunchboxes in the first grade. Come on, who can top My Little Pony and Rainbow Brite? But, since I'm older now the plastic, picture covered food totes of the past just aren't going to suit my needs. But these updated versions from Built NY might be the most appropriate thing. They are made from the same material as a wetsuit, so it keeps your food fresh in any regard. Perfect for while you're dreading the run from the door to the deli just to grab overpriced grub from the food bar. You don't have to bother the healthy stuff came from home with you! Then when you get home, all you need to do is just toss it in the wash. Just like mom would have wanted...

The United Nations is notorious for its tight security as are most places in this great big city of ours. But, after months of negotiating Marie Claire finally persuaded the international organization to let down its guard in the name of fashion! Next month's issue will show the first time that any title has been allowed to do a fashion shoot in the halls of power. Fashions include embellished suits, jazzy patterns, and feminine takes on classic jackets. The fashion spread also includes a feature on the UN’s female rising stars who arm themselves with compassion and diplomacy and of course killer fashion.
Kooba Sale
If I tell you about nothing else this week I have to tell you about Kooba! There is a huge sample sale going on starting today and they will have a large selection of Kooba bags, as well as, some other stuff including Free People pieces. Now, you might be wondering why this sample sale merits it's own post when most of the time I clump them all together. I'll tell you why. #1 I'm running out the door and I don't have time to compile a list and #2 This sale is just that damn good! I went to the last one they had and picked up a coveted Ginger bag originally about $500 retail but, $250 at the sale. So if this is what you've been waiting for head over to 231 W. 36th St. (btwn. 7th & 8th) 2nd Floor. Today and Thurday until 7 PM and Wednesday and Friday until 6 PM, (wierd I dunno but that's the deal.)

Hallmark Holday: Part 3
If, the inexpensive gift doesn't work for your lady, you can try this beautiful necklace designed by none-other than model, humanitarian, and Ecoist Petra Nemcova. Although you might not know who that is your girl probably will. Petra's new pendants are almost indestructible. Made from silver or gold, the heart necklaces were designed by the supermodel for her Happy Hearts Fund, and 10 percent of all sales, naturally, go to the children’s charity. Though the charms may be reminiscent of Elsa Peretti’s collection, the silk cord allows them a little more versatility than the Tiffany line, plus the price is better. From, $95 to $395 at Fortunoff, 681 Fifth Ave., at 54th St.; 212-758-6660. I want this holiday or not...
Hallmark Holday: Part 2
Ok, I gave the boys a pretty inexpensive gift idea for the upcoming D-Day, I mean V-Day. Now, here's one for the girls... Show your man that he's the only one for you with some personalized panties by Blume. Beloved by celebs from J.Lo and Sarah Michelle to Britney and Paris, these skivvies will put fun behind your fly and a smile on your lips and if my thoughts are correct, someone else's as well.
You're Not Alone Diane!
Zac Posen is here to keep you company! Who needs Ken when you have a premier couture designer at your side in your Malibu convertible? You'll just have to cram his lush red headed model (sister, muse, and creative partner Alexandra) under your bed and he's all yours plus a handbag, shoes, and the Posen studio puppy, Tina. The studio “set” is crammed with bolts of fabric, sewing notions, bulletin board with pinned inspiration and must-have accessories. Of course, this Barbie costs more than her mass-market sisters (in that same way that Diane did) but with a stamp of approval from Vogue, that's to be expected. “Rarity is the new definition of luxury," and with just under 1000 units to sell that is truly the case.

Another One?
Breaking news, Stella McCartney’s been bitten by the design collaborative bug and can't be stopped! The designer recently announced plans to design limited edition collections for LeSportsac, focusing on travel bags, luggage, and baby accessories that is set to launch in Spring 2008. “LeSportsac has a strong history in making iconic non-leather goods and this is a unique opportunity for Stella McCartney to address a new category of accessories for the busy woman of today,” said Marco Bizzarri, CEO and president of Stella McCartney. The lightweight and multi-purpose collections will incorporate innovative elements of design. Initially 30 to 40 styles will debut, with a bag averaging $200 to $250. The Stella McCartney for LeSportsac collection will be available in high-end department stores and specialty stores including Stella McCartney boutiques in London, New York, and Los Angeles, as well as, LeSportsac stores and website nationwide.
From Russia With Love
Are you so over your Uggs? I'm sorry I can't help you with that myself because I still love mine but perhaps Valenki can. The 300-year-old line of Russian footwear — originally used by peasants — is making a comeback. The boots, a cross between galoshes and the fuzzy sheepskin marvel, have removable rubber on the bottom and an inch to a quarter-inch of wool throughout, which means they could keep your feet warm even in Antarctic temperatures, or just NYC temps right now. Brrr... They come in all sizes and will match anything plus, if you want them a bit shorter, just take a knife and whack them down to size. How convenient!
Knit-story
You’ve probably never heard of Ohio Knitting Mills, a Cleveland-based company that was the source of sweaters for everyone from Pendleton to Saks. Especially since, the company closed several years ago. But, they left behind a collection of over 10,000 samples! Now, artist Steven Tatar has rescued them and opened an Ohio Knitting Mills in Brooklyn. He has enough to keep the store going for at least three years, but once the sweaters are gone, they’re gone so you'd better get going if you want a piece of that! And with prices from $68.00 it's a pretty affordable piece of history. Located at 231 Smith St. (nr. Butler St.) in Boerum Hill.
