Nothing Stopping You Now

Remember how I said that you would need to give yourself at least a half an hour to tie your Monif C convertible dress... well not anymore! The ladies have added an instructional video online at the request of customers who have purchased the dress and in hopes that those who haven't will now as there's fears are allayed. So there are no more excuses: buy it, wear it, love it! I'm going to start practicing now... when I get really good maybe I will be able to buy the yellow one without feeling the extreme guilt.

Quick Calendar

There is alot of good fashion stuff going on in the next couple of days and I want to make sure that you are aware of all of it! So here it is, as short and sweet as I can make it:

  • This week Loehmann's opened a new location (Broadway @ 73rd st.) in Manhattan, which is great because this is one of those places where you can strike GOLD. Granted it requires frequent visits and a bit of luck bit of luck but, if you have time on your hands or are looking for something specific and basic it doesn't hurt to check this out.
  • Going on now till Sunday CALYPSO Christiane Celle semi-annual warehouse sale. Save up to 80% off retail prices on women’s, children’s and home accessories. Check locale details here.
  • Another one going on is The Art of Shopping denim and stuff clearance sale. Details here. (they have good music, "I forgot that I might see so many beautiful things..." *I'm singing)
  • Starting today Torrid is having a MAJOR clearance sale in stores and online. Only this weekend though so, shop now and get the deals.
  • Tomorrow dunkxchange will be taking place in the city (T New York, 240 W. 52nd St., btwn. Bdway & 8th) from 1-5. As founder Gary Hughes says, "Our monthly shows feature great shoes, great music, great food, and a fun, friendly atmosphere. Meet other sneakerheads and see the newest, rarest, hottest kicks!" Here's an article about one in the past if that description didn't help you get the idea.

Meat Packing Spring Trunk Show

Head to the Meat Packing distric today from 2-5 and celenrate the arrival of spring with Veuve Cliquot Rosé. Several boutiques like Catherine Malandrino, Diane von Furstenberg, Girlshop, Rebecca & Drew, Yigal Azrouel, and 16 other shops will offer new spring merchandise during this special event. And as the name suggests, lots of champagne will be served.

I Was Always Worried About This

How badly do you think people want fake Louis Vuittons? Badly enough to get held hostgage in a chinatown basement? That's what happened to twelve tourists this week who were held for two hours when peddlers were too afraid to let them out of there underground shop, in fear of police finding them during a raid. Those LV people are all over Canal street with there walkie talkies spreading the word when the fuzz rolls around. The place was eventually raided and police found thousands of knock-off bags, wallets, and, of course, customers. The tourists were let go with a warning and a good story about their trip to the big city. That's NYC for you.

Maybe You Want To Try This

If clothes isn't what's doing it for you tonight you could take a hint from the Seychelles girls and opt for some sole therapy. YLLI, a fav fast growing Brooklyn boutique is having a hugemongous shoe sale as a kick off for there Archangela Shoe Clique, a group you definitely want to be apart of. The advantages are so much more rewarding than those of the snobby chic's in high school led you to believe of there group. And, isn't that the truth about most things post high school? But, I digress. Join the club and get the VIP treatment (love it.) Be the first to hear about new arrivals, special offers and always get a little something extra. Initiation (a shoe cult might not be that bad) begins tonight. Head there (482 Driggs Ave.) from 6-9 for cocktails and shoe shopping galore. Buy 1 pair of shoes and get10% off, 2=15% off, 3 is 25% off, and 4 pairs at 30% off. Browse the selection online so you know what you want (Dolce Vita) but also keep in mind that there will be one night pairs also that you will have to wait to see.

Sassy Shoes

Seychelles are some of my fav shoes. They have this modern vintage feel that is too cute to pass up and I know there are tons of people who definitely agree. So for all you ladies out there who love the shoes they are on sale now, 30% off at Wink. Your welcome, Seychelles lovers.

PARTAY?!

Tonight at Lola y Maria (175 Rivington St.)there will be a Quail trunk show. Now, unless your a hardcore fan trunk shows can be somewhat dissapointing, I mean a sneak peek, 10%, or 15%off is cool but unless this is a designer that your all about you can wait for it to go on sale. Well, this trunk show is a bit different. Join the ladies at Lola y Maria from 7 to 10, for an exclusive shopping event featuring Quail's Summer 2007 Collection. Aside from getting a sneak preview of what's to come for summer, there will be cocktails (woo hoo), special discounts (of course), artwork by Danny Simon (hmm different), and the biggest surprise is a live performance by Delta Spirit (live music always a plus). Let me know how it is, because unfourtunatly (for me) I can't go.

One Second Your In

And the next your out. At least that's what Heidi used to say when she strutted across the runway as the host of Project Runway. But it seems the reality of the situation is a bit different. Project Runway reject Alison Kelly's new clothing line, Dahl, is now selling exclusively like crazy on shopbop.com... It's girly but not too frilly, and in muted colors so you can mix and match with all your own fab accesories or if your so inclined, Rachel Leigh jewelry designed exclusivly for Dahl. So if this is what is happening to one of the losers, what is happening to the winner? Well, Jeffrey Sebelia is among other mundane things, is designing costumes for Bratz:The Movie. Seems like it should be the other way around, but it is what it is. If you think you could deal with the Runway experience there are open casting calls at Macy's Herald Square this weekend for Season 4. Make sure you have what you need and head over because you never know, you could be the next Allison or Jeffrey. Good Luck!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

And we are definately in April! The dreary overcast weather that we have been having is only tolerable because it's general knowledge that better, warmer, more beautiful weather is on the way. But, what to do until espadrilles and flip flops are the only thing to wear? Well, you could throw on the "o so trendy" rubber galoshas or move beyond and try something new. Enter Tretorn! And while Sigerson Morrison skimmers did come first I have a feeling that these newbies might be more comfortable and definately more practical. Don't get me wrong I love my big boots, sometimes you just need to feel like a kid but they don't transfer well to more adult situations. And the skimmers(yes I did own a pair), although achieving the latter succesfully, were cut so low that water got in. The one-piece flexible 2 1/4 inch mid wedge style heel will keep you feet higher than puddle level and the traction patterned waterproof sole will keep you from slipping. And if you still wanna be a kid with these they come in some crazy colors.

Going To The Dark Side,,,

Everyone has seen people walking around in the most fashionable city in the world (woo hoo NYC) with the most unfashionable shoes on the face of the planet. You know what I'm talking about, the dreaded Crocs... It all started when three Boulder, Colorado founders decided to develop and market an innovative type of footware. They were originally intended as a boating/outdoor shoe because of the slip-resistant, non-marking sole but by 2003 Crocs had seeped it's way into our everyday life. Now, I have a confession to make, I have tried on Crocs. For shame I know but, my mom bought a pair and I was honestly curious what all the raving was about. I have to say they really are some of the most comfortable things I have ever worn! But, I still will not give in because however comfy they are, they remain quite hideous... Well, I didn't give in until now, they have different styles available other than the colored clogs with holes (yuck). The ones I am loving right now are flip flops, perfect for the summer months and o so comfy! One of us... Ones of us... One of us...

For The Curvy Girls

I have stumbed across another hot plus-size online shop. When your a big girl it's always a struggle to find things that are stylish and trendy as opposed to tired and dowdy so, it's refreshing to find new places to look like Size Appeal. With great selections and a variety of sizes it is the perfect new place to shop! One feature that I really liked is the "easy guided search." Baisically you select category, size, color, and price range and the filter select all items that match your criteria so finding a 1x, yellow shirt for under $14.99 is as easy as a 1, 2, 3, and well, 4. You can't them to pick the clothes for you, besides what fun would there be in that?

Today

I actually got a "what are you wearing" request like I used to post so, here it goes. Today I am running out just to pick up a few things so low key and comfy is the theme (if any). So, Juicy thermal shirt (so comfy, and yes I know random picture), jeans, and flats, with my LV Speedy and GAP short peacoat because it's one of those rainy spring days unfourtunatly... till tomorrow!
