Brooklyn Babes
Do I have news for you living in Kings County! There are some great stores and sales popping up all over. First there is the Built by Wendy annual sample sale. 46 N. 6th Street (btwn. Wythe and Kent) this friday and saturday from 11-8. The first time I read about Wendy Mullins was in an edition of Teen magazine when I was a young teen myself, she really has come a long way since then. A long way indeed, bad for the city girls but good for those in the 'burg. Also for the fashionistas in Williamsburg a fab boutique has just opened up, on Bedford Street between North 8th and North 9th called Jurnelle. Carrying items from Karen Walker, Sonia Rykiel, and Mint, to name a few. You don't have to travel into the city anymore to get dressed to go out and party on the LES. Lastly for everyone who is still fabulously sheik but lives slightly more twoards the ghetto, that's right I'm talking "Clinton Hill," and dare I say possibly even "Bed-Stuy" do I have something for you. Collect Her, a fun fashion forward second hand/vintage shop just blocks from Pratt and the Chocolate Factory. Located at 306 Franklin Avenue open thursay thru saturday from 12-8 and sunday from 12-6 but stroll by on any of those days because if the shop owner is still around chances are she'll let you in the browse even if it's after hours. Fabulous I know but, not as fab as the prices.
Your welcome brooklyn gals...
Quite Tubular
I love the fact that tube tops are now longer and more billowy than ever before. I have always wanted to make them a regular piece in my summer wardrobe but was too nervous about the length or the tightness but shirts like this one from Urban Outfitters are made for me. If it doesn't work for you try this, much roomier indeed. O yes, I'm already stocked up.
Huh?
I find this sale strangely disturbing only because it actually appears that it is geared twoards children even thoughI know it's more meant for the parents. I mean it's fine to dress your child nicely but who cares what designer they are wearing! Is that really so important at such a young age? If so, that's a shame. Let the kids be kids for as long as they can because they grow up faster and faster as we move into the future. Besides, you should save the money for they actually want designer clothes and they can pick it out themselves as the fashionistas of the future. *Ahem* you know who you are ;-)
Bulga Love
Right now NM has a bunch of Bulga bags on sale. If this is something you have been waiting for check it out because they are 25% off. I love the flap satchel but most are fans of this leather studded hobo made famous by celebs around the world. Both are on sale so take your pick.

It's For The Troops
Make A Contribution With Style
I know your all sick of me talking about t-shirts but I can't help, I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal when I'm not decked out in designer. That's is why I love Threadless, they have shirts that are stylin, unique, and much better than the sexual innuendo t's you'll get at every preppy chain store. Right now, You can buy any of the three designs pictured below on their website and for every t-shirt sold, $5 will go to the Red-Cross. They were part of a t-shirt competition to celebrate the Red Cross' 125th anniversary and convery "Hope, Humanity & Compassion". See people benefit from your shopping in ways you could never imagine.

This Just In
Urban Outfitters is having a huge sale starting today. Women's, men's and apartment stuffs are all on sale. And I'm not talking sissy sale, I'm talking clothing starting at $6.99 and acessories from $1.99! This dress, which I am loving for the summer, was $68.00, now $19.99. So shop it early and get the best stuff. If you can't make it to the store don't worry it's online as well.
Get Ready For It
Having just gotten word of the first sailor sighting this week I know that it is in fact Memorial Day Week! Yes, it is the whole week in NYC because any bar you go to in midtown has tons of boys in white and that of course means tons of fun for you. But when the weekend rolls around it is time to push them aside and head out for the shopping extravanganzas. Here is your notice for the Memorial Day sale at Woodbury Commons outlet in Central Valley. I know many of you city girls don't drive but hijack a friend from the outer-bouroughs because these sales are worth it. And if you do in fact motivate and go, do it early because the crowds will be merciless!
Gentlemen Prefer...
Marilyn Monroe was a pinicle of fashion inspiration for all women large and small. Monif C. has really bought that to life for women of all sizes with her Marilyn Convertible Dress, inspired by vintage Halston. And it is fast becoming the dress to have for the season whatever size you are, because it fits size 8-24! I know it's unbelievable, and the shockers keep on coming. This dress ties 10 different ways including as a halter dress, dress with sleeves, skirt, baby doll top, and anything else you can imagine. Supposedly "Monif even found a new way to tie the dress by turning the dress around backwards with the back of the dress in the front to cover her back fat!" Order it now before they sell out, because it's on sale and will be gone before you know it.

A Bit Of Real News
In The Shade
Summer is about here and if you haven't picked up a styling pair of shades you absolutely must! Might I recommend these, the Thin Serpent Sunglasses from Roberto Cavalli. They come in three different colors, will match about anything, and look fabulous. Bonus, you pick them up online at NM. Convenience and style all at the same time.

Fashion Night
Every fashionista in New York would die to get invited to a show at Fashion Week, even if it's just someone like Atil Kutoglu instead of Gucci. Well here's your chance, kinda... Next Tuesday at the Hammerstein Ballrom the Styles 2006 Fashion and Awards show will take place. Featuring 30 up and coming winning designers pulled from all over the world having their wears strutted down the catwalk at one of the greatest venues in the world. You can buy your tickets (there's always a catch) and be part of the action along with celeb judges: Diane von Furstenberg, Richard Lambertson, and our favorite Tim Gunnat from Project Runway at the pre-reception, fashion show & awards presentation, and after-party access. Still need convincing? You can feel better about shelling out the dough because all proceeds go to benefit the Gen Art Foundation
Chéz Targét
You thought that Target couldn't get much better: cheap, practical, and with their Go International lines, unbelievably fashionable. Well your not the only person who thinks that. The people at Intuition and shopintuition.com had their own Jaye Hersh collaborate with some of LA’s hottest designers to launch this fun, fashion-forward, limited edition product line aptly named Targét Couture available exclusively at shopintuition.com. I'm not sure if this is a collaboration of some sort but I am sure that this is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.LeSport-What?

FINALLY!
When I found Torrid I sang praises to heaven, finally some clothes that was meant for curvy women... and no, I don't mean curvy as a in fat I mean curvy as in I have hips! I am not a waif! And the heads up about Alight.com from V was another eye opener and a relief, finally there are places online besides Torrid where I can get fun trendy clothes at relatively reasonable prices that actually fit. Things were looking good! Today I recieved an email that really put a huge smile on my face, and a glimmer of envy in my eye because there is no way I can attend this fabulous event.
Finally these industry people are really getting it, not every fashionista is a size 2 or 4 or even a 10. If you happen to go and buy your tickets in advance you will be privy to shopping Monif C's new and sold out lines at considerable discount, offers from sponsers, free cocktails, and a goodie bag!

Go International
Whose da Man?
Delman is a designer that I always come back to, and without even realizing it. These shoes are so classic and simple that they can be worn to work, out to the bar, on vacation, for a day of shopping, etc. You name it and Delman has something that will work. Starting today and running till the 5th is the sample sale and you can get at least 50% off at 730 Fifth Ave (nr. 56th) on the 8th floor. I'm sure they will go fast so get them while you can.
